No New Year's Resolutions
I'm not the biggest on New Year's Resolutions and typically don't make any. I usually just say I want to be a better version of myself and pray that's what I work on as the year progresses. Every year I write a post very similar to this one. Most of us take this time of year to reflect back on all the ups and downs we’ve had over the year. We evaluate the goals we set and if we met the mark on any of the things that we said we would and wouldn’t do. Even if we decide not to come up with resolutions, we still think of ways we want to be better as we enter into a new year. I’m very much so one of those people who likes to reflect so that I’m capable of renewing my sense of self, reestablishing new goals, resurrecting or correcting the vision of any old ones and deciding which direction I need to go in to be better than I was before.
Learning to Adjust to the Shakeup
We all get to cross roads in our lives where it’s time to make tough decisions. Whether it is forced upon us or we slowly approach it, it happens no matter what! For the last few years I’ve been completely out of control of my career and for those that know me, they know I don’t operate well under those circumstances…………………but here I stand. AGAIN! Out of control of how things happen. I used to get really upset about it and it would completely ruin my mood. My have things changed!! I may get initially pissed with the change but once I realize the change is upon me, I make moves to get on out the way and on to something else!
Building Up Your Brand
When building your brand and expanding your network, you have to learn to step outside of your comfort zone. This can be very frustrating and difficult for some people…………..like me who aren’t the most social, unwilling to sell things and feels awkward when putting themselves in the spotlight. Truth is, you have to place yourself in a light that illuminates your talent and highlights your gifts so that others will believe in your plan as much as you do. Regardless to how painful this may be it is so very necessary! As I continue to expand and grow, I’m learning things about the process along the way that may be useful for others who endure the same struggles I do.
Suffering With The Dreaded Writers Block!
Let me just be clear…………….the life of a writer is not easy! I promise you it isn’t. We always have to think above and beyond anyone else who doesn’t feel the need to capture their creativity through words with every single thing they do, encounter, think or feel. I go through periods of time where I am on complete fire and I can crank out a blog in an hour. That includes the entire blog, re-writes, edits and four additional read throughs just to make sure I have said everything it is I want to say………..you know………..make every single point.
Why Being a Multitasker Isn't Something To Brag About
I always say that I am the queen of multitasking but to a certain degree I think that's a false statement! To be the queen of something you must be super good at it and if I had to be honest, I am only truly good at mastering one portion of Queendom and that is tiring myself out. Since I was a younger girl I've been quite the busy body and never really grasped the concept of rest and relaxation until my body began to scream..........sit down honey, you're doing too much!
When Starting A Business. Levels To This.
When there is a passion inside of you and it's ignited, there is only one way to deal with it........feed it!! Give it everything you've got and don't look back until you've given it every single thing you've got! In those moments you are living in your full purpose and living the life that was designed just for you.
Recharge: When Being Checked On Your Faith
When you have friends who truly love you……………..I mean love you to the moon and back, they don’t mind giving you a complete reality check when they feel you need it. I just had one of those and it came at a really good time in my life. We don’t always feel that God is working on our behalf but the truth is, if He wasn’t, we wouldn’t be here in one piece and in our right minds.
I am a firm believer that we are done a disservice in this country by not providing financial literacy as a mandatory class in schools for our young children as a part of life preparation. Some of us are forced to learn about these things much later in life and likely after we realize how important financial education really is.
When Stuck In A Rut..........FOCUS GROUP!
So last night was the first night that my accountability partners and I attended our newly formed focus group. They just so happen to be my besties………………and who else to keep me in line and on point other than the ladies who know me best, know all my strengths and weaknesses and can COMPLETELY check me when I’m wrong?!?! I promised them that I wouldn’t give away details on our sessions until we all sit down and agree, get solid lessons learned and have a good opportunity to sit down and hash out a written document to share. So please by all means stay tuned because I do definitely intend to share.
Blogging. Sometimes We Need A Reminder To Stay Focused
Over the last few days I've been really paying attention to myself and refocusing on my goal. In this process I've decided that it's definitely time to rebrand and work towards the goals I'm really trying to accomplish with my blog. Many of my fellow bloggers are having some of the same concerns and issues that I am having and in my many different groups we are talking to one another and sharing with each other just how to overcome some of those things. That led to my quick video that I wanted to share to help us stay focused on the mission!!
